Love the elders is the most significant essence this Valentine’s Day – Tacloban First Couple

TACLOBAN CITY – The city government concluded as a success the recently conducted pre-Valentine concert given to the senior citizens of the city through the effort of Mayor Alfred Romualdez.
In an exclusive interview with the Leyte Samar Daily Express, Mayor Romualdez said that the program was a way of giving tribute to the elders “Because without them, we will not be here today and we should give them honor because they were responsible for what we are today.”
Romualdez also said that senior citizens deserve to be given due respect.
And in a separate interview, the First Lady of Tacloban, City Councilor Cristina Gonzales Romualdez, articulated that the significant event was really for the grandparents not only in the city but for the entire nation.
She appealed to the public to love the elders because we owed a lot from them.”Our elders have a lot of wisdom we can get that could shape our lives and through this event, it will set a good example not only for the young but also to the elders,” she said.
“The pre-Valentine concert was one way of saying thank you to our lolos and lolas,” the councilor added.
Meanwhile, the event was highlighted by the two famous showbiz personalities namely: comedian/singer Norman Michel and Asia’s Queen of Songs, Pilita Corrales, as they both entertained the audience with songs and humor.
Even former City Mayor Bejo Romualdez was present for the occasion and he expressed his gratitude to his son-mayor for coming up with a show for the elders.
The said program was entitled Valentine Concert “A tribute to Lolo and Lola” spearheaded by the Tacloban city government in cooperation with the Tacloban Senior Citizen sAssociation as a Valentine treat to the senior citizens in the city.(Noel Sevillano Talacay)
