4Ps offers livelihood assistance through LBP

TACLOBAN CITY – As to continue the noble purpose of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program(4P’s), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD–8) will expand the project in order to serve more poor families in the region.
Hermanito Mangalao, 4P’s regional project evaluation officer, confirmed the tie-up between the DSWD and the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), which offers more livelihood assistance to all the recipients of the 4P’s in the region.
Magalao said this special livelihood project came into realization after the meeting and discussion with the officials of the LBP.
The said project will be piloted in Northern Samar covering the of municipalities of Silvino Lubos, Las Navas, Mapanas, Catubig, Lapinig, Lope de Vega, Mondragon, Palapag, San Roque and Pambujan.
The said project will be given through the two SEA-KABAYANS in Northern Samar in the municipalities of San Isidro and Bobon, where every kabayan will be benefited with livelihood projects, home improvement and shelter construction.
Meanwhile, Magalao said that for this year,they have set targets for every program of 4P’s and they are optimistic that they can meet or achieve their target before the year ends.
According to the data given, in SEA-K for level 1, they have a target of 10 municipalities in Northern Samar – a total of 4,320 members formed 144 SKAs to be established with the amount of P43,200,000 funding from 4P’s.
In Samar, the target of 25 municipalities as set 2, having 360 SKAs to be established with a 10,800 expected members, and have an amount of P108,000,000 as total funding.
In the provinces of Leyte, Southern Leyte, Biliran and Eastern Samar, they have a target of 16,695 members, 609 SKAs to be established with P166,950.000 fund as for the level 1 and for level 2 they have a target of 220 members, 6 SKAs to be established and P4,400,000 funding.
The core principle of the said program is to maintain and provide earnings to poor families in the region, so that we can help them to augment their status in the society and bestow them a sustainable development in order to reduce poverty in the region, Magalao said. (Noel Sevillano Talacay)
