PNP-8 captures notorious robbery gang in EV

CAMP RUPERTO KANGLEON, PALO,Leyte – Police authorities in the region arrested the members of one of the most notorious robbery groups in the region.
Police Supt. Elizar Patano Egloso, of the police and community relations office of the Philippine National Police-8, revealed that the suspected robbery gang members were apprehended in a checkpoint in Brgy. Bobonon, Alang-alang, Leyte this week.
Egloso identified the three suspects as Dexter Ranis, alias “Ewar,” 27, married, jobless and a resident of Brgy. P. Barrates, Alang-alang Leyte, Rondio Pasaque, 47, married, farmer laborer and a resident of Brgy. Buntay, Dagami, Leyte and Reynald Homeres, 29, married and residing at Brgy. Patong, Pastrana, Leyte.
Confiscated from the three suspects were two fragmentation grenade and one bladed weapon measuring about 10 inches long, .38 cal. revolver without serial number, five live ammos for cal. .38 and one unit Nokia cellphone, one homemade shotgun with two live ammos for 12 gauge.
“The suspects were riding color blue “Rusi” motorcycle with a Plate Number Number 3237-HG, and this robbery group is named as “Estelo Gang and Homeres Group,” Egloso said.
According to Egloso, police authorities recieved an information that the gang was about to rob a certain Engr. Alejandro Cinco residing in poblacion Alangalang.
With this information, the police team immediately set up a checkpoint that resulted to the apprehension of the group, Egloso said. The suspects were brought to Alangalang police station for further investigation where charges for illegal possession of firearms, ammunitions, deadly wapon and attempted robbery would be filed against them. (NOEL SEVILLANO TALACAY)
